Protein shakes and smoothies can be a great addition to a healthy diet. I have to say though, as a nutritionist, I do not believe anyone should replace meals on a regular basis with shakes. Your body needs to chew and digest real foods to function at its best. However, I do believe they can be incorporated as a pre/post workout snack or an occasional quick meal when time is limited.  It's important that your shakes or smoothies be high quality.
You can always add healthy additives such as fiber powder, protein powders, flax, chia, nuts or seeds. Here are some great examples!
















 












Green Smoothie
*1/2 cup fresh pineapple
